Thursday, 21 March 2024

Musical virtuoso Jade Park (OA2023) was inducted into the Hall of Honour at last year's Evening of Celebration and Prizegiving.

Jade is a distinguished international level musician in trumpet and oboe. She was awarded her AMEB LMusA diploma in oboe at the age of 12 and her LMusA with Distinction in trumpet at just 13.

Jade has already enjoyed considerable success on the international stage. In 2018 she won the Exceptional Young Talent Prize at the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition in Rome and won First Prize at the Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition with a spellbinding performance at Carnegie Hall in New York. Adding to her list of accolades, Jade travelled to the USA, represented Australia and received the Young Artist Award from the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) in 2020. In 2022 she won first prize again, at the ITG Conference Youth Competition. The International Women’s Brass Conference recognised her with the 2022 Penny Turner Young Artist Award and in 2023. Jade retained her title at the ITG Youth Competition (Senior Division) by coming first yet again.

Closer to home, in 2022 Jade won the Barbara Robinson Prize and the Players’ Award at the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra Secondary Schools Concerto Competition. She has worked with the Australian Youth Orchestra and appeared as a soloist with the Penrith Symphony Orchestra and Beecroft Community Orchestra.

Having just completed her International Baccalaureate here at SACS, she has been offered a full scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London to continue her training.
