SACS continued its 140-year celebrations with a special event for past student leaders on Friday 14 March. Nearly 100 Old Andreans came back to SACS for a dinner on the SAH rooftop, with year groups spanning from 1971 to 2024. We paid host to a wide range of leaders including School Captains, Head Students, House Captains and Prefects, reflecting the enduring connection between alumni and our School. As the sun set over the city, guests enjoyed delicious food and drinks while reconnecting with old friends and sharing memories. Head of School Dr Julie McGonigle and the 2024/25 student leadership team joined the event, sharing updates on the school's progress and vision for the future. Old Andreans also heard captivating stories from the Class of '71 about student life in the 1960s and '70s, as well as reflections from some of the first girls to join SACS in the early 2000s, marking the school's transition to co-education. The leaders were also treated to an advance showing of the Old Andrean performance of 'One Day More' from the 140-commencement assembly earlier this month. The evening was a testament to the strong bond between the School and its alumni, who continue to care deeply about SACS and generously give back in many significant ways. Their passion for SACS remains as strong as ever. An amusing story came at the end of the evening when a captain mentioned that Durham House's blue, white, and black colours were not chosen for any deep historical reason—but simply because its founding captain in the late 1990s was a devoted Cronulla Sharks fan. |
